Dear Josh & Niki:

Just needed take a few minutes to say a genuine THANK YOU for making my dream trip of being packed into the Bob Marshall on a fully guided elk hunt a memorable experience.  As I shared with you I had been contemplating that trip for over 10 years, and when I finally retired this was the retirement gift I gave to myself.  The whole experience – from my initial contact with Niki in spring 2015 – up to the point where we parted company the morning of Nov. 9 was OUTSTANDING.  You run a first class outfit, the cabins were a great deal, the food at the lodge was outstanding, and the big steak dinner the evening we came off the mountain was fabulous.  And your little wrangler, Charlie, is absolutely priceless.  Watch out Josh, he’ll be taking over all to soon.

The overall experience packing in 20 miles to Lynx Camp, being set up in a first class dry and warm camp with great meals (I gained 4 lbs. even though we walked our butts off)  and having the camp tender light up the tent and get a roaring fire going each morning was great.  The three guides there:  Matt, Paul L. and Paul R were all great to work with, and they busted butt from dark to dark each day trying to get us clients on to elk.  The fact that we saw no elk to shoot was why they call it hunting:  ya pays your money and ya takes your chances.  It wasn’t for lack of hard effort that we did not fill tags – but for me that was only a minor part of the trip.  I have shot my fair share of elk so it was not that big of a deal.  However if I would have tagged out I was sure looking forward to doing NOTHING and letting the guide and packer take care of everything.  Oh well, guess I’ll dream about that next time I am packing one out on my back!!  The highlight of the trip for me was Day 2 in the afternoon when Paul Lane spotted a beautiful mature grizzly less than 200 yds away – we all just sat there drinking in the experience instead of hunting.  It was great.

Pam our cook went above and beyond to keep us well fed and happy.  She was absolutely delightful to be in camp with.  Fred and I got very lucky because the other four hunters with us that week were all true sportsmen and enjoyed just being there as much as we did.  Special kudos to our guide Paul Lane – a true gentleman, a devoted hunter, and in exceptionally great shape (it was hard to keep up with him).  He never pushed Fred or I harder than we wanted to go, and always ran the plan by us before we took off on another adventure.

Thanks again and I would be happy to serve as a reference for your hunting camps.  Should I ever decide to repeat this adventure, I’ll make sure to look you guys up.
Best wishes for future success.
